Practical

What it costs, and how it runs.

Fees, insurance, session length, and the questions people ask before they call. No surprises on the first invoice.

Practical Adults and couples, 18+

What it costs, and how it runs.

Sessions

Sixty minutes, entirely online, anywhere in Colorado. Evening times exist but they go quickly, so ask.

Who

Adults and couples, eighteen and over. Every background, every belief, no exceptions to that.

Fee

$185 a session. The sliding scale is real, not decorative. If money is the thing standing in the way, say so on the first call and we will work it out.

Insurance

Aetna, Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield, Carelon, Cigna, Select Health. In-network sessions are booked through Headway, which shows your exact cost before you confirm. Out-of-network receipts on request.

Worth knowing before you use it. Insurance pays only when I assign a diagnosis, and that diagnosis goes into your health record, usually for good. Insurers can also ask for treatment plans and progress notes to confirm the care is medically necessary, so more people see your mental health history than if you paid privately.

If privacy matters most to you, paying out of pocket keeps it between us. Both are reasonable choices, and I am glad to talk through which fits your budget and your goals.

Questions Asked before a first call

The things people want to know first.

Do you take my insurance?
Aetna, Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield, Carelon, Cigna and Select Health are all in network, and those sessions are booked through Headway, which shows you your exact cost before you confirm anything. Covered somewhere else? You can still be seen, and I will give you a receipt each month to send to your insurer. Ask on the first call and you will get a straight answer about what this actually costs you.
What happens in a first session?
We spend the hour on a fairly thorough conversation about what brought you here, what you have already tried, and what you would like to be different. It is semi-structured, so I will ask questions and keep us moving, but you decide what we get into and what keeps for another day. By the end we will both have a sense of whether this is a good fit.
How long does this usually take?
It depends on what you are bringing. Some people come for eight or ten sessions with something specific in mind. Others stay longer because the work opens up. I will not keep you in therapy you no longer need, and if you ever want an honest read on how it is going, just ask me.
Is online therapy really as good as being in the room?
For most adults and most concerns the research says yes, and that includes trauma work and EMDR. It also removes the drive, the parking and the waiting room, which is often the difference between going every week and quietly stopping. It is not the right fit for an acute crisis, and if that is where you are, I will tell you and help you find the right level of care.
Do you prescribe medication?
No. I am a licensed professional counselor, not a psychiatrist. If medication seems worth considering I will say so, and I can coordinate with your doctor or point you toward a prescriber who takes your insurance.
I have never done therapy before. Is that a problem?
Not at all, and it is more common than you would think, particularly among people who are used to being the one everyone else leans on. You do not need the right words or a tidy explanation of what is wrong. Showing up and saying that something feels off is plenty to start with.
Where does faith fit in?
Wherever you want it to. I am trained to work with questions of meaning, belief and doubt, and I am glad to sit in them with you. I am equally glad never to raise the subject at all. It is your hour, and it follows your lead.
Begin

A first conversation costs nothing.

Fifteen minutes on the phone. No paperwork, no obligation. If I’m not the right fit, I’ll say so and point you toward someone who is.
